Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the chart’s subject and mention several relevant categories and percentage changes, but the summary is incomplete and some key information is inaccurate. The overview, “Overall we will discuss export earning,” does not state the main patterns. You should highlight that petroleum and engineered goods were the highest earners, while textiles rose most sharply and gems and jewellery was the only category to decline. The figures for gems are misreported: the table gives a fall of 5.18%, not 5.81%. The description of agricultural products and textiles as “almost similar” also misses that textiles increased from about $26 billion to $31.5 billion. The response is 141 words, below the required 150, and needs fuller coverage of the main comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation: you introduce the topic, then discuss the categories and percentage changes. However, the response does not develop a clear overall progression, and the opening overview mainly promises to discuss the chart rather than summarising its main features. Linking is limited and sometimes awkward, as in “nevertheless” and “In contrast percentage change,” which do not clearly show the relationships between the figures. The long second paragraph combines several categories and the table information without clear separation. Use a concise overview followed by logically grouped comparisons, and connect each comparison explicitly—for example, contrast the rise in textiles with the fall in gems and jewellery.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage change,” “higher,” “fall,” and “export earning,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. “Worth of one country trade” is not a natural way to describe export values, and “ratio change” does not accurately express the percentage change shown. There are also spelling errors such as “Overll,” “Afterawrd,” and “Agricultre,” alongside inconsistent capitalisation. Build a more precise set of Task 1 terms, such as “export earnings,” “value,” “increased,” and “declined,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response communicates some comparisons through simple sentences and attempts longer structures, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently. For example, “This graph illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “Afterawrd we have Agriculture products and textile are almost similar” combines clauses without a workable grammatical structure. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable: the opening runs several sentences together, and commas are often used where full stops are needed. Articles, plurals, and verb forms need closer control, as in “one country trade” and “they both were little higher.” Practise writing short, complete comparison sentences first, then add accurate clauses using “while” or “whereas.”
