Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main categories and give a relevant overview: petroleum, engineered goods and textiles rose, while gems and jewellery fell. You also report the percentage changes for all five categories, including the largest rise for textiles (15.24%) and the decline in gems and jewellery (5.18%). This addresses the task, although some details are unclear or inaccurate. In particular, agricultural exports rose only slightly, not “significantly,” and the response does not compare the actual export values shown in the bar chart. The opening also refers to a comparison “from two decade,” which is not supported by the data. To strengthen the report, include a few approximate dollar values and make the overview more precise about the contrasting scale of the changes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two detail paragraphs. This helps the reader identify the broad purpose and the main trends. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is uneven, and several linking expressions are awkward or repetitive. For example, “Furthermore examination” does not clearly introduce the next point, while “Finally” repeats the emphasis on textiles already made immediately before it. The first paragraph also includes an unclear comparison with “two decade.” Grouping the figures more deliberately—for example, increases together and the one decrease separately—and using straightforward links such as “By contrast” would make the information easier to follow. Clearer references to the categories would also improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “exports,” “categories,” “percentage,” “increased,” and “decreased,” so the general subject is understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to interpret. Phrases such as “increased their profit,” “loss rate of value,” and “highly changes in value” do not describe export earnings naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “comparsion” and “inceased.” Aim for precise chart language and avoid repeating “value” and “changed” when describing trends. For example, use “export earnings rose” or “recorded a decline” to express the changes more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, control of sentence structure and basic grammar is inconsistent. Examples include “a country exports earnings,” where the possessive form is needed, and “An agricultural products is,” which has an article and agreement problem. In “Petroleum products are slightly increased there values,” the verb form and sentence construction are faulty. Several sentences also lack clear punctuation between the figure and the next idea, as in “3 per cent.Engineered goods.” Practise accurate past-tense reporting and simple comparison structures, such as “Earnings from petroleum products rose by 3%.” More reliable sentence patterns would make your data easier to understand.
