Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the chart and table and attempt an overview, noting that most categories rose and that petroleum products were the leading export. However, the overview contains a key factual error: gems and jewellery did not remain among the top revenue generators; they fell from about $43 billion to $41 billion, while petroleum products and engineered goods were highest. The response also omits nearly all category figures and comparisons, including the particularly strong rise in textiles and the small change in agricultural products. The required minimum of 150 words is not met, so the report is too brief to select and explain the main features adequately. Include an accurate overview and support it with several key figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic, sensible order: an opening sentence introduces the visuals, followed by an overview. The use of “Overall” helps signal the shift from description to summary. However, there is no developed body paragraph, so the information does not progress through the categories or compare the two years. The overview sentence also combines two separate points in a way that makes their relationship unclear. To improve, organise the report into an introduction, a concise overview, and one or two body paragraphs grouped by trends, using clear links such as “By contrast” and “Meanwhile” to guide comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “bar chart,” “export value,” “categories,” and “revenue,” and the meaning is generally recoverable. However, spelling and word-form errors are frequent and sometimes make the text harder to read: “earings,” “petrolem,” “percents,” and “generatiors” should be corrected. “Games and Jewellery” is also an inaccurate label for “Gems and jewellery,” and “expert for” appears to be an unsuccessful attempt at “except for.” Some phrasing is imprecise, such as “a specific nation” and “two-year period.” Check the chart labels carefully and use accurate collocations such as “export earnings” and “percentage change.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes a compound opening sentence and an overview, but the grammatical range is limited and several sentence-level problems affect clarity. In the first sentence, the list of categories is not punctuated clearly, and the phrase “for the years 2015 and 2016” is separated awkwardly from the rest of the sentence. The overview, “export revenues increased … expert for Games and Jewellry goods remained the top revenue generatiors,” lacks a clear grammatical connection between the exception and the claim that follows. There are also inconsistent spaces around punctuation. Practise writing complete, controlled comparison sentences, for example: “All categories rose except gems and jewellery, whose earnings fell slightly.”
