Student answer (Band 5.5)
The chart shows the change in the percentage of one country's export in different categories during 2015 and 1016.
Overall, the chart shows that the change in percentage effected in a positive way, because it seems to be increase in the percentage of majority products' export.
The textile category majorly affected the exports because it raised by 15.24%.Enginering goods also affected a positive way and increased by 8.5% in 2016 as compared to 2015. Other categories whose percentage of export increased include petroleum products and agricultural products and their percentage as 3% and 0.81% respectively.
The category which resulted maximum earning in exports in 2016 is petroleum products as petroleum products are the need of every country because, everything depends on petroleum products in daily life.
One of the category which negatively affected the export is gems and jewellery as it percentage decresed by 5.18% in 2016 as compared to 2015.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several key movements accurately: textiles had the largest percentage rise (15.24%), while gems and jewellery fell by 5.18%, and petroleum products earned the most in 2016. However, the response focuses mainly on percentage changes and gives little account of the chart’s export values in billions or comparisons between the two years. The overview is also imprecise: saying the change was positive for the “majority” is broadly correct, but it would be clearer to state that four categories rose and one declined. The explanation that petroleum is essential in daily life is not shown by the data and is not relevant to summarising it. Cover both the main overall patterns and selected value comparisons, without adding outside explanations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a general statement, and further details about increases, the highest-earning category, and the decline. This makes the main points reasonably easy to follow. However, the progression is not fully controlled because the discussion moves from percentage changes to an unsupported explanation about petroleum, then back to the fall in gems and jewellery. The repeated use of “category” and “products” also makes the links between points feel mechanical. Grouping the rising categories together, then contrasting them with the one decline, would create a clearer sequence. Use paragraphing to separate the overview from the detailed comparisons, and connect each point directly to the chart data.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary such as “exports,” “increased,” “decreased,” and “maximum earning,” so the reader can understand the broad trends. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate, including “the change in the percentage effected in a positive way” and “the category which resulted maximum earning.” There are also spelling errors in “Enginering” and “decresed,” and “1016” is a transcription error for 2016. Aim for concise, conventional chart language rather than repeated references to a category being “affected.” More precise terms such as “export value,” “rose,” “declined,” and “highest-earning category” would make the report clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a comparison with “as compared to 2015” and a subordinate clause beginning “because.” The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “it seems to be increase” needs a grammatical verb pattern, and “One of the category” has incorrect number agreement. In “as it percentage decresed,” the possessive form is missing, while the long sentence about petroleum joins ideas awkwardly and uses punctuation poorly. These issues make some sentences less clear, even though the reader can usually infer your meaning. Practise accurate article and plural use, verb patterns, and sentence boundaries, while keeping comparisons in straightforward structures.
