Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main categories and attempt an overview, noting petroleum as the leading export and textiles as having the largest percentage increase. However, some key information is inaccurate or unclear: textiles are not the lowest in both years, since agricultural products were slightly lower in 2015, and petroleum earnings were about $61–63 billion rather than approximately $65 billion. The description of gems as “half a ton” is not meaningful for the chart, and the percentage change for gems is not explained clearly. The overview also misses the contrast between falling gems and rising or nearly stable values elsewhere. To strengthen the response, report the main comparisons accurately and explain the direction of change for each category.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to category details, and linking phrases such as “In addition” and “Furthermore” show an attempt to connect points. However, the progression is difficult to follow because comparisons are not consistently grouped or clearly expressed. For example, the sentence about engineered goods combines a comparison with petroleum and a change in earnings without stating the figures or direction precisely. “Values of percentage change in quintet” is also unclear, while “On the flip side” introduces a point that is not really a contrast. Organise the body into clear comparisons, such as the highest-earning categories and the lower-earning categories, and use linking expressions only where their relationship is accurate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt task-related vocabulary, including “export earnings,” “percentage change,” and category names, and you use some alternatives such as “worth” and “amount.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate enough to make meaning unclear. “Textiles are least interested to abroad” does not convey that textiles had low export earnings, and “half a ton” is unsuitable for describing a monetary value. Other awkward phrases include “time span,” “reach to,” and “biggest number of percentage change.” Spelling errors such as “fist,” “haif,” “diclined,” and “compered” also reduce clarity. Build a reliable set of chart-description phrases and check spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “which” and “as compared to,” but control is inconsistent and errors frequently make relationships difficult to understand. For example, “the worth … during time record which was the 2015 and 2016” has an unclear sentence structure, and “in both time span large amount … were exports” has problems with number agreement and verb form. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or incorrectly used, as in “in the both period” and “reach to approximately.” Several sentences are fragments or lack a clear main clause, particularly “Second category engineered goods…” Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check tense, agreement, and articles.
