Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main pattern accurately: petroleum and engineered goods were the highest earners, and gems and jewellery was the only category to decline. You also note textiles’ strong growth and include several relevant figures, so the response covers the chart and table. Some details, however, are incomplete or unclear. For example, you give petroleum’s 2016 value but not engineered goods’ value, and the sentence saying both “increased 3% and 8.5% respectively” does not clearly name the two categories. The overview also calls textiles the lowest-earning category without specifying that this applies to 2015; by 2016, textiles and agricultural products were both about $31.5 billion. Clearer comparisons and more precise reporting would strengthen the summary further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two years. This makes the information easy to follow, and phrases such as “Overall” and “In 2016” help signal the stages of the summary. However, some links between ideas are awkward or unclear. “Opposed to all” does not express the intended contrast, and the sentence about the 2016 percentage increases leaves the categories difficult to identify. The overview’s movement from the highest earners to textiles is relevant, but the comparison could be organised more explicitly. Use straightforward linking phrases and keep related figures together—for example, report each category’s 2015 value alongside its 2016 value or percentage change.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “export earning,” “percentage,” “increased,” and “decreased,” and the reader can generally understand the comparisons. However, the range and control are limited by repeated or imprecise expressions such as “value,” “goods,” and “export earning.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “petroluem,” “engineerd,” “decresed,” and “rised,” which reduce accuracy and polish. Some collocations are unnatural, such as “in the term of exports” and “gained higher export earning.” Aim for precise chart language and check spelling carefully; terms such as “export revenue,” “recorded,” and “rose” would make the description more natural and concise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “Although” and a relative clause in the overview. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships between figures unclear. For example, “petroleum products increased 3% and 8.5% respectively” lacks a clear subject for the second percentage, while “textile have lowest export earning” has problems with agreement and articles. Plural forms and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “$40 billions earning compare to” and the run-on construction around “5.18%,while.” Practise building accurate comparison sentences, checking subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals, and punctuation before adding more complex structures.
