Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main pattern that petroleum and engineered goods were the highest-value exports, and you note that most categories rose while gems and jewellery declined. These are relevant overview points, and the response includes several figures and percentage changes. However, some comparisons are incomplete or inaccurate: petroleum is not discussed with its change from about $61 billion to $63 billion, and the statement that agriculture and textiles were the lowest exporters in both years overlooks that textiles rose to roughly the same value as agriculture in 2016. The figures for textiles’ percentage growth and engineered goods’ growth are assigned in reverse order. Develop the overview with accurate high/low comparisons and report the key values consistently to make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph with selected details. The overview also gives the reader a useful broad direction before the figures. However, the final paragraph moves between categories without a clear sequence, and some links are awkward or incomplete, such as “In agricultural products is showed a stability” and the sentence beginning “While major decrease.” The contrast marker “However” does not clearly connect the textile increase to the preceding point. Grouping the figures by increases and decreases, or following the chart’s category order, would make progression easier to follow. Use linking words only where the relationship is clear, and ensure each sentence connects grammatically to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “earnings,” “exports,” “recorded a decline,” and “growth,” so the topic is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal reporting language. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “changes held in proportion,” “highly exported,” and “major imcome is generated.” Spelling errors such as “doller,” “taxtiles,” “respectivily,” and “jwellery” reduce precision, while “products” is repeated frequently. Choose standard chart-reporting phrases such as “percentage change,” “exported the most,” and “export earnings,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish export value from the percentage change in that value.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “While only gems and jewellery recorded a decline.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. Examples include subject–verb disagreement in “Petroleum products and engineered goods was,” “their was,” and “Agriculture products and textiles was”; the construction “In agricultural products is showed a stability” is also faulty. Articles and prepositions are sometimes missing or misused, as in “accounted at 60 million” and “there was an growth.” Sentence fragments beginning “While” also interrupt the flow. Practise accurate agreement and complete clause structures, then check articles and prepositions in reporting phrases. This would make your varied sentence attempts more controlled.
