Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two visuals and report several relevant category trends, including the decline in gems and jewellery and the strong rise in textiles. However, the overview is vague: “there are information about the features” does not summarise the main pattern. Some figures are also inaccurate or assigned to the wrong year. For example, petroleum earnings are about $61 billion in 2015 and $63 billion in 2016, not $60 billion and $61 billion; engineered goods reach about $62 billion in 2016, not $60 billion. The response also says petroleum products earned more in 2015 than 2016, contradicting the table’s increase. Give a clear overview and check each figure against the chart before reporting it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has separate paragraphs and generally moves through the product categories before mentioning the percentage changes, so the reader can identify the broad subject of each section. However, there is no clear overall progression: the overview paragraph is too general to guide the reader, and the category-by-category sequence is interrupted by phrases such as “On the second number” and “Lastlt.” Linking is often mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “And” and “There is little…” constructions. Improve the organisation by giving a concise overview after the introduction, then grouping the main increases and the one decrease, using clear comparisons to connect the figures.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “exports,” “percentage,” “increase,” “decrease,” and “earnings,” which makes the topic recognisable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “gradually increase,” “On the second number,” and “upword and downword trend.” Spelling errors including “engingeered,” “Lastlt,” and “grater” also reduce clarity. Use precise chart language and standard collocations: for example, say that earnings “rose by” a percentage or “stood at” a value, and describe textiles as having the “largest percentage increase.” Proofreading spelling and avoiding repeated, vague phrases would make the report easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most sentences use simple structures, and the reader can usually understand the intended comparisons. However, the range is limited, and frequent errors affect sentence control. The opening joins two independent sentences with “And,” while “there are information” has incorrect agreement and countability. Other examples include “in during 2016,” “exports earn 61 billions,” and “gems and jewellery exports earn 42 billions,” where tense, articles, or plural forms are not controlled. Punctuation is also weak in the final paragraph, where several trend statements are joined with full stops or “And.” Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build comparisons with controlled clauses, such as “Textile earnings rose from about $26 billion to $31.5 billion.”
