Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response identifies several relevant categories and attempts to compare the two years, including petroleum products as the leading export and textiles as a lower-valued category. However, the overview is unclear and contains inaccurate claims: textiles were not the lowest in 2016, since agricultural products and textiles were both about $31.5 billion, and the table shows textiles had the largest percentage increase. Some figures are also misreported, such as describing values as percentages and saying agricultural products were $32 billion in 2016 and $31 billion in 2016. The response is 139 words, below the required 150. To improve, give a clear overview of the main rises and fall, report values in billions, and accurately compare the categories.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation: an opening statement is followed by an overview-like paragraph and further category comparisons. This gives the reader a rough sense of the intended structure. However, progression is limited, and the final paragraph begins with “fainally” without clearly connecting the agricultural figures to the preceding comparisons. Linking expressions such as “in addition” and “moreover” are used inaccurately or repetitively, so relationships between ideas are sometimes difficult to follow. Paragraphing is present but does not consistently separate the overview from detailed reporting. Use a concise introduction, a distinct overview, and logically grouped details—for example, rising categories together and the decline in gems and jewellery separately.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “export,” “categories,” “percentage,” and “petroleum products,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear: “percentage reform,” “highest piont,” “come dwon,” and “nearly to the same positon.” There are also frequent spelling errors, including “illustrares,” “comparisen,” and “jewellwry,” which reduce clarity. In addition, “60%” and “62%” are inappropriate for values shown in billions of dollars. Build a more accurate set of chart-reporting phrases, such as “export earnings,” “stood at,” “rose to,” and “declined slightly,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts several sentence forms and uses time references to compare the years, but grammatical control is weak and errors frequently affect clarity. For example, “The table represent” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “petroleum products has been highest” has faulty agreement and an unclear verb construction. The opening sentence, “in the years of 2015 in addition 2015,” does not express the intended time comparison, and the final sentence repeats “2016” where the two years should be contrasted. Articles, sentence boundaries, and punctuation are also inconsistently controlled. Practise accurate simple comparison patterns first, such as “Petroleum exports rose from $61 billion in 2015 to $63 billion in 2016,” then add more varied structures once these are reliable.
