Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the main high-earning categories and note that textiles had the largest percentage increase, which are relevant features. However, the response only partially reports the chart: it gives a 2015 figure for petroleum products but omits most 2016 values and does not explain the declines in gems and jewellery or the small changes in agriculture. The overview also calls textiles the lowest category in both years, although in 2016 textiles and agricultural products were approximately equal. The final sentence is unfinished, leaving the comparison incomplete. The response is 143 words, below the required 150. To improve, give a clear overview of the main changes and support it with accurate comparisons across both years.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and body paragraphs, and phrases such as “Overall,” “To begin with” and “On the other hand” signal stages in the discussion. However, progression is difficult to follow because the comparisons are incomplete and some links do not show a clear relationship between ideas. For example, “Moreover agricultural products and textiles…” is followed by a separate point about textiles’ percentage change, while the final paragraph ends with “the remaining other three transported categories” and gives no completion. Develop each paragraph around a clear comparison, use linking expressions only where their meaning fits, and finish the report with a complete summary of the remaining categories.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “bar chart,” “percentage change,” “petroleum products” and “engineered goods,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, word choice and spelling errors are frequent enough to make parts awkward or unclear: “income of exporting,” “germs and jewellery,” “highly exporting section,” and “transported categories” do not accurately describe export values. There are also misspellings such as “perecentage,” “billins” and “suprassed.” Aim for precise, natural collocations such as “export earnings,” “exported the most,” and “exceeded,” and check spelling carefully. Replacing vague wording with the chart’s category names will make comparisons clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a few complex structures, including the contrast introduced by “whereas” and the clause beginning “while the lowest exported category…”. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement and verb forms sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “petroleum products was,” “it is clearly seem,” and the incomplete construction “While textiles has highest percentage change…”. The final sentence is also unfinished, so it lacks a complete grammatical structure. Use straightforward, complete sentences first, checking subject–verb agreement and tense; for example, describe past chart data consistently with “Petroleum products were…” and “Textiles recorded…”. Then add complex clauses only when their grammar is secure.
