Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the broad subject and include an overview that petroleum exports were highest while textiles were among the lowest. However, the response only minimally reports the chart’s main features: it gives approximate figures for 2015 but does not clearly compare both years or explain the table’s percentage changes. The statement that petroleum was high and “others products was high” is too vague, and it misses the notable rise in textiles and the fall in gems and jewellery. There are also inaccuracies, such as describing textiles as low without noting their increase to about $31.5 billion. The response is 10 words below the required minimum. To improve, report the key comparisons across both years and accurately summarise the contrasting percentage trends.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an overview, and two body sections signalled by “Firstly” and “secondly.” This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression is limited, and the second body section does not develop its stated focus: it lists no specific percentage changes and ends with the unclear claim that petroleum and other products were high. Connections between ideas are also sometimes awkward, as in “Whereas, the table shows…” and “However” before the engineered-goods figure. Use one paragraph to compare export values and another to summarise percentage changes, with clear links such as “by contrast” and “while.” This would make the organisation more purposeful and reduce the impression of disconnected statements.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “exports,” “percentage changing value,” and the product categories, so the topic is recognisable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, with “ratio” used where “value” or “earnings” is needed, and “high” repeated without precise comparisons. Several spelling and word-choice errors—such as “pertroleum,” “produts,” “hight,” and “different time period”—make the description less clear and strain the reader. Some phrases, including “numerous faces” and “reached between upto,” are not natural in this context. Build a small set of accurate chart-description terms, such as “rose,” “declined,” “remained stable,” and “accounted for,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a few longer sentence forms, including the opening contrast with “Whereas” and the sentence beginning “However,” but control is weak and the range remains limited. Errors occur frequently in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “the ratio of pertroleum products … thats was at high level” has faulty clause structure and agreement, while “the amount … was so hight … during the two different time period” contains problems with article use and singular/plural forms. Several sentences run together without spaces after full stops, and the final sentence lacks a clear grammatical structure. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then combine them using “while” or “whereas”; check subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries.
