Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main categories and note that petroleum products lead while textiles are lowest in 2015, and you mention the strong rise in textiles and the fall in gems and jewellery. However, the overview is incomplete: petroleum remains the highest in both years, while textiles rise to roughly the same level as agricultural products in 2016. Several figures or trends are inaccurate: petroleum is about $61 billion in 2015 and $63 billion in 2016, not simply “60” and “two point”; gems and jewellery falls by 5.18%, not 3%; and engineered goods rise by 8.5%, rather than “in both year.” The response also contains only 136 words, below the 150-word minimum; 11 words copied from the prompt were excluded. Add accurate comparisons and cover the key changes more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, with an opening, an overview and two detail paragraphs. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with” and “Furthermore” help signal movement between points. However, progression is limited because the overview and later paragraphs repeat some information without developing a clear comparison across the categories. The table discussion is especially difficult to follow: “engineered goods 8.5%increse in both year and compered with gems…” combines separate trends in one unclear sentence. Group the figures logically—for example, discuss the leading categories together, then the largest rise and the one decline—and use clear links between each comparison. Check spacing after punctuation and make references such as “this” or “they” explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “export earning,” “categories,” “highest,” “lowest,” and “percentage change,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, word-form and spelling errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “contry,” “secound,” “tectiles,” “increse gradyally,” and “gregully rice.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “numbers are the increase” does not clearly describe a percentage change, and “same thing” is too informal for reporting data. Build a small set of accurate chart phrases, such as “export earnings rose to,” “recorded the largest increase,” and “was the only category to decline,” and check spelling carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the response is usually recognisable despite its errors. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “petroleum products is” needs plural agreement, while “gems and jewellery was decrese” has an incorrect verb form and an incomplete construction. “Textiles in 2015 was lowest” also needs a suitable article and agreement. Several sentences join ideas without a clear grammatical relationship, particularly the sentence beginning “Furthermore, in the table…”. Practise writing complete comparison sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use past-tense reporting consistently, such as “Textile earnings rose from about $26 billion to $32 billion.”
