Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people believe that in current time the core environmental problem is the reduce of particular species of plants and animals. Whereas other argue that there are also other crucial environmental problems exist. While achknowledging the importance of protecting plants and other living species, i also believe that there are much more alarming environmental issue arriging.

To maintain the balance in environment, plants and animals play a valuable rule. Deforestation become a global issue, because of this problem the earth became overheated and causing different types of global warming issue. To illustrate, the ice start to melting, as a result see lavel rising day by day. Because of that many countries are in red zone and if any natural diisaster such as cyclone can cause these areas flooded by water. Beside that, animals also help in ecosystems, they act like a engineers, cleanersand protectors.Without them, the environment would strugle to sustain human and plant life.

However, there are planty of serious issues we should focus on to save environment. Air pollution one of them, bceuse of excess carbon emissions from different sources such as factories and vehicals are causing alarming problem to environment. Not only planet are suffering from this issue but also people are facing different types of physical obstacle. Another problem is people are throwing garbage and wasted materials everywhere, even in the drain, river and sea. Non recyclable materials like plastic and polythine destroy the ability soil and play a vital rule to blockage the drain and river. It can cause different type of man-made disester.

In canclusion, I beleive apart from protecting the plants and animals, there are more effective ways to amke sure that our environment are safe for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state your position: you recognise the value of protecting species, while arguing that other environmental problems are more alarming. The discussion includes relevant points about deforestation, pollution and waste, with examples such as rising sea levels and plastic blocking waterways. This covers the task, but the two sides are not developed equally: the first paragraph focuses largely on deforestation and its effects rather than explaining species loss itself, and the final opinion that there are “more effective ways” to protect the environment is not clearly explained. To strengthen the response, explain more directly how species loss harms ecosystems, then compare the scale or consequences of that problem with pollution or waste and support your conclusion with a specific reason.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two perspectives, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “To illustrate,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “because of this problem” does not clearly identify whether the cause is species loss or deforestation, and “Beside that” introduces a related point without showing its precise relationship to the previous claim. The second body paragraph also moves quickly from air pollution to human health, then to waste and blocked waterways. Use clearer references and develop one point at a time, with transitions that explain how each example supports the paragraph’s main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “carbon emissions,” “ecosystems,” “non recyclable materials,” and “natural disaster,” which helps communicate the environmental focus. Some less common expressions are also attempted, such as describing animals as “engineers, cleaners and protectors.” However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make meaning less precise: “the reduce of particular species,” “sea lavel,” “physical obstacle,” and “play a vital rule” are examples. Several ideas also rely on broad terms such as “issue” and “problem.” Build accuracy by learning environmental collocations as complete phrases and checking spelling; use more precise terms for effects, such as health conditions, habitat loss, or ecosystem services where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional idea (“if any natural disaster such as cyclone can cause…”) and a contrast introduced by “While.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement and articles reduce accuracy. For instance, “Air pollution one of them” lacks a verb, while “Deforestation become” and “the ice start to melting” have incorrect verb forms. Agreement is also inconsistent in “Not only planet are suffering,” and the conditional sentence about a cyclone is not grammatically complete. Practise forming complete clauses and checking subject–verb agreement, tense and articles. Aim to retain your complex sentences, but make sure each clause has a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
