Student answer (Band 4.5)

Nowadays, many individuals say that the main environental issue of our time is the loss of significant parts of plants and animals but there are some that also say that there are more problems that affect of environment.

From this statement i agree with that people say the loss of particular species of plants and animals is a environmental problem of our time. One reason why i agree with those people as we know the plants are create carbon dioxide and these plants keep clean of our environment through their carbon dioxide and if we cutt them then the environment can automatically produce pollution. The animals are also environmental problem because they pollute the environment through their waste but some people said that there are more things that are the part of environmental problems.I also agree with them because instead of animals and plants there are many other things that are enivironmental problem such as smog, garbage of our homes etc.

In my point of view, there are also more things that is the part of atmosphere problems like vehicles, chain smoking, burning fires.Vehicles are the big casse of polluting environment the main reason behind this is that vehicles produce smoke and this smoke rise up to the sky and creat environment pollute.Furthermore the chain smoking is also big issue ciggrate also develop smoke and this smoke also generate contamination.

All things considered, although it is a common belief that some people say that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals.Others say that there are more important environmental problems, my view is that vehicles, chain smoking, burnig fires

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You address both views and state that you agree with the concern about species loss, while also recognising other environmental problems. However, the discussion is only minimally developed: the explanation that plants “create carbon dioxide” is inaccurate and does not support the argument, and the points about vehicles and smoking are asserted rather than explained with clear examples or consequences. Your final sentence is incomplete, so your own position is not fully brought together. The response also contains 231 words, below the required 250; 39 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen the response, explain each view accurately, develop your opinion with relevant evidence, and complete the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, a discussion paragraph, a further paragraph about other sources of pollution, and a conclusion. Basic links such as “Furthermore” and “All things considered” help signal relationships. However, ideas are not consistently arranged into a clear line of argument: the second paragraph moves between species loss and other problems, while the next paragraph repeats the latter point without a clear transition. Several sentences run together, and the conclusion ends abruptly at “my view is that vehicles, chain smoking, burnig fires,” leaving the reader unsure of the final claim. Use one paragraph for each view, then a complete conclusion that clearly restates your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “species,” “smog,” “polluting environment,” and “contamination,” so the subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, with “environment” and “smoke” appearing repeatedly, and several inaccurate or misspelled choices make the message harder to follow. For example, “plants are create carbon dioxide” appears to confuse carbon dioxide with oxygen production, while “big casse” and “enivironmental” are spelling errors. Some combinations, such as “garbage of our homes” and “atmosphere problems,” are not natural in this context. Build a more precise set of environmental terms and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences using “because,” “if,” and “although,” showing some effort to vary sentence structure. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries frequently affect clarity. Examples include “the plants are create,” “if we cutt them then the environment can automatically produce pollution,” and “there are also more things that is the part.” The final sentence is also incomplete, and punctuation is inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and full stops. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and complete sentences first, then use subordinate clauses only when their grammar is secure.
