Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views: species loss is linked to forest cutting, while the alternative view is represented by global warming and pollution from factories. However, the discussion is only partially developed, which is why the response remains limited in its coverage of the task. The first view is repeated several times, but the explanation that deforestation causes health problems does not clearly show why species loss is the main environmental problem. The second view gives examples of emissions, yet does not explain their wider effects or compare their importance with biodiversity loss. Your conclusion identifies both issues but does not clearly state which view you support. State your own position directly and develop each view with a clear reason and a relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “Turning to the second question” help signal a change of topic. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear, and some linking is mechanical or inaccurate. For example, “This essay will discuss both of these questions provide relevant answers” does not clearly connect the ideas, while the first body paragraph moves from forest loss to breathing problems without explaining the relationship. The conclusion repeats earlier points rather than bringing them together into a clear position. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, then connect explanations and examples explicitly; check that pronouns and linking phrases refer clearly to the ideas they introduce.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant environmental vocabulary, including “particular species,” “global warming,” “industrial pollution,” and “harmful emissions,” so the topic is generally identifiable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “hazerdiuos impect on ezone hole,” “cutting tress,” and “industrials pollution.” Repetition of “environmental problem” and “particular species” also limits flexibility. Build a more accurate set of topic expressions and check spelling carefully, especially for key terms. Prefer precise phrases such as “deforestation,” “ozone depletion,” and “loss of biodiversity,” and use them in sentences that show their meaning rather than repeating broad labels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use basic structures to introduce examples and consequences, but the range is limited and complex attempts are often faulty. Errors occur frequently in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb forms. For instance, “This essay will discuss both of these questions provide relevant answers” lacks a grammatical connection between its verbs, and “when anyone cutting the forest” has an incomplete verb phrase. The sentence beginning “which those areas cutting forest people faces breath problems” is also difficult to follow because its clauses are not correctly joined. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including sentence fragments such as “Turning to the second question.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with clear conjunctions such as “because” and “which.”
