Student answer (Band 5.5)

Few individuals declare that the main Environmental challenges of our duration is the rout of certain type of species of plants and animals. However others argue that there are more critical environment problems. Both sides of argument will be discussed in this essay before a conclusion is reached.

To commence with, the main environmental issue is the loss of particular species plants and animals. I agree with them. For example in the previous time when there was no development in the world as compare to modern time. Then environmental problems had not noticed.Such as people lived healthy life.there was no issue of pollution. Even that people preferred enjoy fresh air instead of fans. Hence, it proves that environment problems of our duration creates by own.

On the other hand, many argue that there are many other important environment problems. Whereas, many types of pollution issues are creating day by day in the modern life. For instance, many people is trying to become more modern then they use artificial things. Thus it pollutes the environment. Therefore the wastage like dust shopping bags heavy vehicles with loud noise.

In conclusion, i have discussed the both views ,in my opinion i agree

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 195 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments remain superficial and lack the necessary depth and supporting examples required for a Band 6 or higher. While the essay attempts to address both views, the discussion is underdeveloped, and the conclusion is extremely brief and fails to clearly state the writer's opinion despite the prompt's requirement. The lack of sufficient length prevents a full exploration of the environmental issues mentioned.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'To commence with', 'On the other hand', 'In conclusion'), they are often used mechanically or incorrectly. The flow between sentences is frequently disrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. Paragraphing is present, but the ideas within the paragraphs are not well-linked, leading to a disjointed reading experience.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'rout of certain type of species' instead of 'loss of certain species' and 'environmental problems of our duration' instead of 'current environmental problems'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly. Some words are used incorrectly, such as 'wastage' to describe pollution sources, which hinders the precision of the argument. The student relies on basic vocabulary throughout the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'many people is trying'), article usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'environmental problems of our duration creates by own'). The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty or punctuated incorrectly. These persistent errors in basic grammar significantly detract from the clarity of the writing.
