Student answer (Band 5.5)
A lot of individuals claim that the plants and animals species that have gone extinct has a greater negative impact in the present years. while some believe it is among the list environmental issues we face today. Even though believes will be discussed throughout this essay, it is my own believe that some species of nature that are extinct does not affect the society in any significant way.
People that believe in support probably think that Dinosaurs as an example of an animal that does not exist anymore has any impact in benefitting humanity which clearly doesn't. People that make herbal medicines with ancient herbs and roots have a lot to say about how their world has been affected with some of their ingredients nowhere to be found.
I would say the majority of people in this generation do not know the names of plants that does not exist anymore because we're surviving fine, well, and healthy without them. Thanks to the variety of plants and animals still existing we can curate whatever we need with them. Animals like Dinosaurs bones are being displayed on TV's and some museums as ancients artifacts with is giving more satisfaction of being connected to the past. An example is how cartoons and some entertainment shows use Dinosaurs as a funny character and also linking it to history.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to discuss both views, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack depth. For instance, the claim that extinct species do not affect society is asserted but not supported with logical reasoning or scientific context. Furthermore, the focus on dinosaurs as the primary example of extinction is narrow and does not address the broader environmental implications of biodiversity loss. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific, relevant examples and ensure you reach the required length to fully explore the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt, and the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks clear topic sentences. Cohesive devices are used sparingly and sometimes incorrectly, such as the phrase 'People that believe in support', which is unclear. The connection between the idea of herbal medicine and the broader environmental debate is tenuous. To improve, use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to guide the reader through your arguments more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'believes' used as a noun instead of 'beliefs', and 'list environmental issues' which is grammatically incorrect. The phrase 'curate whatever we need' is also used inappropriately in this context. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the limited range of vocabulary prevent a higher score. You should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to the environment, such as 'ecosystem services', 'habitat destruction', or 'ecological balance'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('plants that does not exist', 'Dinosaurs... has any impact') and incorrect sentence structures ('with is giving more satisfaction'). The range of sentence structures is limited, relying mostly on simple or poorly constructed complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that your complex sentences are constructed with correct relative clauses and conjunctions.
