While this is all true, saying that species extincting is the main environmental problem cannot be further from the truth. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, particularly the distinction between the loss of species as a symptom and climate change as the root cause. However, the development is slightly uneven; the final paragraph is incomplete, as the sentence 'tackling' cuts off abruptly, which leaves the argument unfinished. Despite this, the main points are well-supported with logical reasoning regarding ecosystem balance and the broader environmental context. To reach a higher band, ensure that all arguments are fully concluded and that the essay structure remains consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is generally coherent, with a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs. Paragraphing is used to separate the two viewpoints, which helps the reader follow the argument. Cohesive devices such as 'While this is all true' and 'As such' are used effectively to link ideas. However, the abrupt ending of the second body paragraph disrupts the flow and cohesion of the final section. Improving the transition between the body paragraphs and ensuring that the conclusion is fully integrated would enhance the overall structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some good topic-specific collocations such as 'fauna and flora', 'ecosystems', and 'global warming'. There are some minor errors in word formation and usage, such as 'species extincting' (should be 'species extinction') and 'at a much alarming rate' (should be 'at a much more alarming rate'). While the range is sufficient to convey meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for a higher band. Incorporating more varied and precise academic vocabulary would strengthen this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'it the most concerning' (missing 'is'), 'there more important problems' (missing 'are'), and 'it a whole loop' (missing 'is'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some issues with comma usage and sentence fragments. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and ensuring all sentences have a clear main verb would improve accuracy.
