Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some species of plants and animals are really rare and are about to extinct if not maintained properly by human beings. However, it is a major concern for the society there can be different major environmental problems that can be really harmful.

While some people believe that one of the important reason of environmental problem is loss of particular species of plants and animals, they are not wrong as, extinction of some particular plants leads to there being lack or extinction of some type of medicine or particular extract that we get from the plant for medicines, which may lead to a cure of an disease. Also extinction of an rare species of animal may lead to the imbalance of food chain as well as some type of natural value they bring to the nature and the living of human being one great example of extinction of rare species of animal is, Rhinos and even Tiger.

However, there is also an different aspect to this same case which talks about the harm that is caused to the environment instead, which is caused by man-made factories, products, vehicles, littering etc. These types of issues also cause environment a great deal of damage, it is as important as saving the rare species. Harming the environment is at the cost of a human life. Vehicles and major factories (especially chemical factories) are two of the biggest source that causes environmental problems.

According to my point of view both, saving rare species of plants and animals as well as taking care source of other issues of environmental problems is as important as the other one. Both are harming the environment equally and some kind of action must be taken against it. The rare species should be taken care of all around the world by co-operating with each other and the harm caused by other major problems must also be taken care of.

By the given article we can conclude that, Both issues are equally important and must be taken care of as, in the long run it is going to cost humans their life, if these environmental issues are not addressed properly.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the medicinal value of plants and the impact of industrial pollution. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the mention of 'Rhinos and even Tiger' is a good start but lacks specific detail or explanation regarding why their loss is critical beyond a general mention of the food chain. The position is consistent throughout, but the arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However', 'While', and 'According to my point of view', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, although some sentences are slightly disjointed, such as the transition between the discussion of factories and the impact on human life. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'extinction', 'imbalance of food chain', and 'chemical factories'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'about to extinct' (should be 'about to become extinct') and 'taking care source of other issues'. The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate, but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the society', 'an disease', 'an rare species') and verb forms ('there being lack', 'is two of the biggest source'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas appearing in several places. These errors do not typically impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score in this category.
