Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response attempts to address the prompt but fails to engage with the specific debate regarding the 'loss of particular species' versus 'other environmental problems'. The ideas are repetitive and lack development, focusing generally on pollution rather than the specific task requirements. The position is not clearly articulated, and the arguments are underdeveloped, relying on vague statements like 'environmental problem arise to the disease condition'. To improve, you must directly address both sides of the argument presented in the prompt and provide specific, relevant examples rather than general observations about pollution.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. There is a lack of logical progression between sentences, and the use of cohesive devices is minimal and often inaccurate (e.g., 'and secondly the now', 'that is why'). The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of ideas. To improve, focus on using transition words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' to link ideas logically, and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that relates directly to the prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There is a frequent misuse of words, such as 'defintly' (definitely), 'dyspnea', and 'bradypnea' (which are medical terms used out of context), and 'arise' is used incorrectly throughout the text. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, often leading to confusion. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more precise terminology related to environmental issues, such as 'biodiversity loss', 'ecosystem degradation', or 'sustainable development', rather than repeating basic terms like 'problem' and 'environmental'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'many health problem are arise'), sentence structure, and word order. The response relies almost entirely on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are consistently faulty. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Reviewing how to form complex sentences using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions would also be beneficial.
