Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention pollution and climate change as more pressing issues, the explanation of why these are 'more important' than biodiversity loss is not fully explored or logically linked to the prompt's core tension. The arguments are repetitive, particularly regarding the causes of pollution, and some points, such as the mention of 'acidic fertilization', are unclear or lack sufficient context to support your position effectively. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a distinct, well-supported argument that directly addresses the prompt's comparison.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to signal transitions. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally confusing (e.g., 'one of the major reason of it'). The progression of ideas is sometimes interrupted by grammatical errors that make the logical connection between sentences less smooth. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that pronouns and referencing words clearly point back to their intended antecedents.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'environmental problems' and 'pollution', and there are several instances of incorrect word forms or collocations, such as 'Government should implies' (should imply) and 'acidic fertilization'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or topic-specific vocabulary limits the score. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to environmental issues and work on using more precise terminology to describe complex concepts rather than repeating basic terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('pollution cause', 'Government should implies'), incorrect pluralization ('more other issue'), and awkward sentence construction ('there are more important important environmental problems are there'). These errors are frequent and occasionally require the reader to re-read to understand the intended meaning. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence structure. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect verb forms will significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
