Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay introduces both sides of the argument, the second body paragraph is incomplete, and the conclusion is entirely missing. The position is stated, but the lack of development in the second half of the essay means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full discussion for both viewpoints and include a clear conclusion that summarises your opinion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay uses some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'Furthermore', which helps with the overall flow. However, the abrupt ending of the second body paragraph disrupts the logical progression of the argument. Paragraphing is attempted, but the lack of a concluding paragraph makes the structure feel unfinished. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that the essay has a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with attempts at topic-specific language like 'flora and fauna', 'agricultural industry', and 'soil degradation'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'primary reason of environmental problem' (should be 'cause of environmental problems') and 'uncurbable disease' (should be 'incurable diseases'). The range is somewhat limited, and there is some repetition of basic terms. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations will help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'there are numerous type of plants and animals are no longer available' (incorrect verb structure) and 'can leads to' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the grammatical control is inconsistent. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct verb forms will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
