Student answer (Band 6.0)
Now a days , there are many serious environmental problems in which most important is losing different species of animal and plants. I will discuss about this issue and also other environmental problems.
There is one environmental problem is pollution, there are many kind of pollution just as noise ,water and land pollution. These cause serious effect on human health and on different species of nature. Some other issues due to environmental pollution is climate change. climate change effects nature very badly which ultimately effect human life and routine. For instance, in 2002 in the month of severe heat , Pakistan faced many environmental problems due to climate change they lost many of their people due to bad conditions of weather which was very severe that they can't bear it.
The most important and cocerning issue related to environmental problem is losing of different kinds of animals and plants. When climate change occurs many plants and animals are effected badly that they start to travel to the other suitable places but thus migration effects them more badly, just because of this there are many species that are now endangered, and near to extinct. For example, Black cat of India which was very famous throughout the world is now extinct due to environmental problems and we can't see this in India again.
In conclusion it is concluded that this is very serious issue we can not take it easy because this will effect our nature more severely, so we have to take some measures regarding to this. We should stop hunting of endangered species, we should take care of our nature.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the loss of species and other environmental problems. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention pollution and climate change, the connection between these and the loss of species is somewhat superficial. Your own opinion is present but could be more clearly articulated throughout the essay rather than just in the conclusion. To improve, ensure each body paragraph has a clear topic sentence and provides more detailed, logical explanations for your arguments. The example of the 'Black cat of India' is not a well-known or verifiable fact, which weakens the credibility of your argument; try to use more general or widely recognized examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is sometimes mechanical. You use basic cohesive devices like 'For instance' and 'In conclusion', but the transitions between sentences within paragraphs are often abrupt. For example, the shift from discussing pollution to climate change lacks a smooth logical bridge. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the link between the heatwave in Pakistan and the broader argument about species loss is not fully established. Improving the use of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas more naturally would help raise your score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'environmental problems' and 'environmental pollution', which appear multiple times. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'effect' used instead of 'affect' (e.g., 'climate change effects nature'). To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and topic-specific collocations. For instance, instead of repeating 'serious environmental problems', you could use 'pressing ecological crises' or 'significant environmental challenges'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there are many kind of pollution'), article usage (e.g., 'the most important is losing'), and punctuation errors (e.g., 'Now a days ,'). The misuse of 'effect' as a verb instead of 'affect' is a recurring error. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic grammar, particularly verb forms and pluralization, to ensure your writing is more accurate.
