Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to discuss the loss of species, you fail to address the second part of the prompt: the 'other' more important environmental problems. The essay is underdeveloped, repetitive, and lacks a balanced discussion. Your position is stated, but the supporting arguments are superficial and lack specific, relevant examples. To improve, ensure you address all parts of the prompt equally and expand your arguments with detailed explanations and concrete examples to meet the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. While there are some attempts at paragraphing, the progression of ideas is disjointed. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way (e.g., 'firstly', 'secondly', 'in addition'). There is a lack of logical flow between sentences, and the conclusion does not effectively summarize the main points or provide a cohesive final thought. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that supports the overall argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'enviromental', 'diminshing', 'soecies', 'sanination', 'coustody') and incorrect word choices (e.g., 'dehydration' used in an environmental context). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the reliance on basic terms hinders the clarity of your argument. You should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to the environment and practice using synonyms to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'people believes', 'trees plays', 'animals are play') and missing articles. Sentence structures are simple and often repetitive. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with many run-on sentences and missing capital letters. These errors frequently impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading your work for common errors before submitting.
