Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some argue that losing endangered species of plants and animals is becoming a problem in our environment. While others discuss that these may have not important as there are issues, we have to face in the environment.
Every species in the environment is beneficial to ecosystem. Losing of particular animals and plants may affect the cycle of earths habitats. It can be a challenge to society to protect and preserve the endangered species. However, if environmentalist did not take measures on protecting those plants and animals it can leave a huge impact on the cycle of earth as every species is important and have different roles in maintaining its habitat. In Amazon River there are a lot of animals and plants facing extinction and the countries that covered this river take full measures to make sure that any animals or plants are protected especially to hunters that targeting endangered animals.
In addition, pollution and garbage is one of the challenges that the world is facing because it also has an impact on earth. Pollution is the most common problem of earth as it is caused by humans. Most of the food that people are eating is connected to this animals and plants and if environmentalist or society did not take measure for protecting this it may affect the cycle of food.
In conclusion, endangered species and animals need to be protected as it leaves a huge impact on cycle of habitats and it is also beneficial to earth. But society need also to keep any eye for climate change and pollution both are needed to be protected.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the discussion on pollution is quite general and lacks a strong connection to the comparison with species loss. The position is clear, but the arguments could be more deeply extended to reach a higher band. The conclusion is a bit repetitive, and the distinction between the two viewpoints could be more sharply defined to demonstrate a more sophisticated engagement with the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition', 'However', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the reader can follow the writer's line of reasoning without significant difficulty, despite some minor issues with sentence-level connectivity.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'extinction', 'ecosystem', and 'habitat'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'losing of particular animals' (should be 'the loss of') and 'if will left a huge significance' (should be 'it will leave'). These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms, articles, and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'these may have not important', 'environmentalist did not take measures', 'if will left'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of these errors means that the majority of sentences are not error-free. To improve, the student should focus on consistent verb tense usage and the correct application of articles and pluralisation.
