Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 165 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the prompt asks to discuss both views and provide an opinion, the essay is incomplete and ends abruptly. The arguments presented are underdeveloped and lack logical progression, making it difficult to identify a clear position. The response addresses the topic only partially due to its brevity and lack of depth, which prevents a full discussion of the environmental issues mentioned. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples and ensure the essay reaches the required length.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a clear logical structure. While there are attempts at paragraphing, the ideas within the paragraphs are disjointed and difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the awkward transition 'Such as, health issues and related to creatures'. The referencing is often unclear, and the progression of ideas is interrupted by fragmented sentences. The essay ends abruptly without a conclusion, which further hinders the overall coherence. To improve, focus on using linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' to connect your sentences and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate. There are frequent errors in word choice, such as 'environmental tackle' instead of 'environmental issue' or 'problem', and 'floras wildlife' which is grammatically incorrect. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the repetition of basic words like 'environmental' and 'problems' indicates a restricted range. Many phrases are non-idiomatic, making the meaning unclear at times. You should focus on learning topic-specific collocations and expanding your range of synonyms to avoid repetitive and imprecise language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Few individual say'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack a clear subject and verb, such as 'Because individual to reduce the trees in the our surroundings'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures. To improve, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice using articles and plural forms correctly.
