Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both viewpoints and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention deforestation and pollution, the arguments lack depth and specific examples to support your claims. The conclusion is quite brief and does not effectively synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a clear, well-supported argument rather than just listing general points. The position is clear, but the overall development is somewhat superficial, which limits the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow is often hindered by mechanical and repetitive transitions. You use phrases like 'In contrast' and 'To conclude', but the internal cohesion within paragraphs is weak. Many sentences are run-on or comma-spliced, such as 'In recent years, the environmental problems have been increased rapidly, , a group of people claim...', which disrupts the logical progression of ideas. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the lack of varied cohesive devices makes the writing feel disjointed. Improving sentence structure and using a wider range of linking words would significantly enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'environmental problems', 'major factors', and 'good/bad' concepts. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'the environmental problems have been increased' (should be 'have increased') and 'had extinct' (should be 'have become extinct'). To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to environmental science and use collocations more accurately. Avoid repetitive phrasing and focus on using precise terminology to express your ideas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are significant issues with sentence construction, including comma splices and run-on sentences. For example, '...the most significant one is due to increasing in urbanization and population the forests are directly converted in grounds...' is grammatically incorrect and confusing. Verb tense usage is inconsistent, and there are errors in article usage and prepositional phrases. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. Focus on mastering basic sentence structure—ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb—before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
