Student answer (Band 5.5)

Environmental problems are become more serious in the modern world. Some people believe that the loss of certain plants and animals is the main environmental issue. Others think that there are more important problems such as pollution and climate change. This essay will discuss both views and give my opinion.

In these aera the loss of species are the main reason of the population are many crops may not grow will because basic help in pollination. many animals and plants are important for medicine, food, and scientific research. I believe that other environmental problems are even more dangerous. Air pollution, Water pollution, noise pollution, and climate change affect millions of people every day. Some pollution are very dangerous are country and our people. Dirty air can is cause health problems such as asthma and heart problems. Polluted rivers kill fish and make water unsafe for humans. Climate change are to higher temperatures, floods, and stronger storms. These problems influence not only animals but also people, cities, agriculture, and the world economy.

In my opinion the loss of species is an important environmental issue but it is mainly a result of larger problems such as pollution and global warming. There is governments should focus on reducing pollution protecting forests and using clean energy. If these major problems are controlled many species of plants and animals will also be protected.

In conclusion both views have strong points. I think pollution and climate change are the most important environmental problems because they have usefull and more importants effects on both humans and nature and animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the importance of species for pollination and medicine, the explanation remains superficial. Similarly, the discussion on pollution and climate change is a list of examples rather than a deep exploration of why these might be considered more 'important' than biodiversity loss. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the reasoning behind your arguments, explaining the causal links between these environmental issues and their global impact more thoroughly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'In these aera' is an awkward transition, and the connection between sentences within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where 'they have usefull and more importants effects' lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'important', 'dangerous', and 'problems' repeatedly. There are also errors in word choice and form, such as 'aera' (era) and 'usefull' (useful). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental science, such as 'ecosystem services', 'biodiversity', 'mitigation', or 'anthropogenic impact', and ensure you are using these terms in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('the loss of species are', 'Climate change are to higher'), incorrect sentence structure ('Some pollution are very dangerous are country'), and missing articles or prepositions. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often marred by these errors. You need to focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that your sentences have a clear, grammatically sound structure before attempting more complex forms.
