Student answer (Band 5.0)

There has been an argue on main environmental destruction is related to loss of animal and plant species. By the end of this essay I will share reasons why I prefer a balanced approach.

In general the trend of greenery is almost lost nowadays. Life is all about luxury lifestyle, cars and cheers up with friends.

In past, there were many plants which provides shade and greenery as well. People keeps animals at homes to stay safe. But today individuals has replaced plants with artificial plants just for the purpose of decoration or to pretend. There's must be an individuals awareness centers where they taught the benefits of keeping plants is essential for health. From my perspective, doing walk early in the morning and getting the fragrance of fresh trees, it gives you relief and keep your mind relaxed.

Besides plants, there are many essential factors which are affecting environmental peace. For example, in crowded cities the huge traffic, the smoke spread by vehicles causes damage to environment as well to individuals health. This is a pressing concern and Government should focus on implementing rules or launching the new vehicles which produces less smoke for the well being of country. Furthermore, another significant factor is garbage and waste which is very harmful. Government have placed a Huge garbage containers, but nobody is here to retain check and balance.

To sum up, I think we should consider the important factor firstly , growing plants is beneficial to some extent , and somehow responsible for problems. But in my opinion this is not only main concern , the Government should take preventive measures to improve environmental issues. It is a responsibility of every single person.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both views regarding the loss of species versus other environmental problems. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. The discussion on species loss is somewhat tangential, focusing more on personal lifestyle and the aesthetic value of plants rather than the ecological impact of biodiversity loss. The second body paragraph introduces relevant points like traffic and waste, but these are not clearly linked back to the prompt's core debate. The position is stated but lacks depth, and the arguments remain largely at a surface level, which limits the overall task response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often disjointed. Transitions between ideas are sometimes abrupt or missing, such as the sudden shift from discussing artificial plants to the need for awareness centers. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices like 'Besides' and 'Furthermore', they are sometimes used mechanically or to connect loosely related ideas. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the overall flow of the argument is hindered by these structural weaknesses.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices and non-standard collocations, such as 'argue on main environmental destruction' instead of 'debate regarding the primary cause of environmental degradation' and 'cheers up with friends'. Some phrases are informal or imprecise, such as 'trend of greenery is almost lost'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision and the reliance on basic vocabulary prevent the response from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('individuals has replaced', 'Government have placed'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms ('there's must be', 'they taught the benefits'). Punctuation is also problematic, with some run-on sentences and misuse of commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and affect the overall readability of the text.
