Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to address both sides of the argument, the ideas are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence. For instance, the example regarding tiger populations is vague and lacks a logical connection to the broader environmental context. Furthermore, your own opinion is not clearly stated or consistently maintained throughout the essay. To improve, ensure you provide a clear, balanced discussion for both viewpoints and dedicate more space to explaining your own perspective with relevant, well-reasoned examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. Paragraphing is present but the logical progression of ideas is weak. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand' and 'Moreover', but they are often applied mechanically or incorrectly. There is a lack of clear transition between sentences, making the flow of the argument disjointed. For example, the transition from the loss of species to the impact on children's diets is abrupt and confusing. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would greatly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'major environmental problems' and 'day by day' throughout the text. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'numbering of national animals' instead of 'population of wildlife' and 'illments' (spelling error). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary and demonstrate more precision in your word choices, avoiding informal or imprecise language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are significant issues with sentence structure, including run-on sentences and missing articles. For example, 'it not only redue proportion of wild animals but also should decrease zoos' is grammatically incorrect and lacks clarity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage will help improve your accuracy.
