Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is an undeniable fact that environmental challenges are increased day by day. It is believed by some individuals that many species of flora and fauna are endangered is a big issue while others think that other environment issues such as pollution, global warming and many more are more crucial to solve. I personally think that both kind of issues are needed to tackle.
On the one hand, the loss of particular species of plants and animals is a major issue. Since all species play a crucial role in the ecosystem, it is a duty of every person try to protect all livings in the atmosphere. If there are some living things are not in the food chain, all setting of environment will get effected. For example, when there are not vegetation on the earth the vegetarian species dead with hunger.
On the other hand, other environmental problems like pollution, global warming etcetera are also essential to tackle. There are various kind of pollution, for instance air pollution, water pollution and noise pollution, which are degrading the atmosphere. Unless these issues are not control, the earth may not be able for living a good life for species. Moreover, the global warming is increasing due to which there are more floods. If it is not controlled, many living things cannot live alive on the planet.
In conclusion, it is not only the loss of species is an important problem but also the need of tackling other environmental issues is necessary for living a good life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the loss of species is supported by a rather simplistic example ('vegetarian species dead with hunger'), which lacks depth. Similarly, the discussion on pollution and global warming is quite general. While all parts of the prompt are addressed, the ideas could be extended with more specific evidence or logical reasoning to reach a higher band. The position is maintained throughout, but the overall depth of analysis is consistent with a Band 6 level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', which provide a basic framework for the argument. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the phrase 'all setting of environment will get effected'. While the progression of ideas is logical, the transition between points could be smoother and more varied to improve the overall coherence of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher score. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'environmental problems' and 'living things'. Some word choices are slightly unnatural or inaccurate, such as 'living alive' or 'degrading the atmosphere' in a context where 'polluting' or 'damaging' might be more precise. While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or sophisticated collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'environmental challenges are increased day by day' (passive voice misuse), 'it is a duty of every person try to protect' (missing 'to'), and 'Unless these issues are not control' (incorrect conditional structure). These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, although they do not significantly impede communication. To improve, focus on mastering conditional sentences and ensuring subject-verb agreement, as well as refining the use of articles and prepositions.
