Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 162 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the introduction presents a clear position, the second body paragraph is incomplete, ending abruptly after the opening sentence. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, and the arguments are severely underdeveloped. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are discussed fully and that your essay meets the length requirement to allow for sufficient elaboration and supporting examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to structure the response. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the second paragraph. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of a conclusion and the unfinished argument make the overall structure feel disjointed. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'main it properly', which lacks a clear antecedent. To improve, focus on completing your thoughts within each paragraph and using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains several inaccuracies. Phrases like 'greater surroundings problems' and 'biological clock' are used incorrectly in this context. There are also spelling errors such as 'demeits' (demerits) and 'dillema' (dilemma). While the meaning is generally understandable, the range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. You should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to the environment, such as 'biodiversity loss' or 'ecological balance', and ensure you check your spelling of common academic terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'it directly affects on animal life cycle' (incorrect preposition) and 'if one of the breed or animal extinct' (incorrect verb form/word choice). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas appearing after 'that' and 'believe'. These errors occasionally cause the reader to pause, though they do not completely impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions, and practice writing complete, error-free sentences before attempting more complex structures.
