Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention the loss of species and pollution, the explanations are brief and lack depth. For instance, the link between insects eating 'poisons' and environmental health is vague. To improve, you should provide more specific examples or logical consequences for each viewpoint. Your position is clear, but the supporting arguments need more substance to reach a higher band. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not fully synthesize the points discussed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'By contrast', and 'To sum up'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing. For example, the transition between discussing bees and plants is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence builds logically upon the previous one to create a smoother, more cohesive argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on simple terms like 'first priority', 'beneficial', and 'important'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'natural diesastars' (natural disasters) and 'eat poisones' (consume toxins). To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental science, such as 'biodiversity loss', 'industrial emissions', or 'ecological equilibrium', rather than repeating basic descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Plants is one of the most crucial'), missing articles (e.g., 'protecting environment'), and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'they may able to'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate better control over complex structures and ensure that basic grammar, such as pluralization and article usage, is more accurate throughout your writing.
