Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, there are many aspects which is raising concern towards environmental problem. One of the most crucial aspect is loss of species of plants and animals. The loss of species disrupts the environment food cycle which results into the disbalance of the environment. The loss of species of plants and animals is an essential reason behind environment problem. However, there are many more problems that need considerably more attention, problems such as: deforestation, pollution, water scarcity and many more.
At a time when some people worry about the loss of species of plants and animals, it is right to draw attention to the other aspects which is equally and slightly more reasonable aspects for environmental problems. One of the main environmental problem is pollution. These days pollution is one of the most vulnerable aspect to worry about . There are many types of pollutions such as air pollution, water pollution, land pollution and noise pollution. It is very essential to focus on these aspects as pollution not only lead to the environmental problem, but it also lead to loss of speices and animals. Moreover, there are even more important aspects which needs more attention that causes environmental problem.
Although, I accept that loss of species of plant and animal is a raising concern for environmental problem, I would argue that there are several more aspects which has significantly more negative effects on environment. For instance, defforestation is rapidly growing due to industrialization which not only leads to loss of species, but it is raising concern for global warming and pollution. This example is clearly highlighting that loss of species is not the main environmental problem of our time, Although there are many more environmental problems which is raising concern.
I believe that, the aspects which is causing loss of species is also responsible for many other environmental problem. To put it in a nutshell, I pen down saying that, loss of species is one aspect for environmental problem but there are many more reasons that is equally reasonable for environmental problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. While you mention deforestation and pollution as alternative problems, the explanation of why these are 'more important' remains superficial. The argument lacks depth, relying on general statements rather than specific examples or logical progression. To improve, you should focus on explaining the causal links between these environmental issues and their global impact more thoroughly. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments need more substance to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'there are many...'). Some transitions feel forced, such as 'To put it in a nutshell, I pen down saying that'. The logical flow between sentences is sometimes hindered by grammatical errors, making the progression of ideas feel slightly disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects logically to the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'aspects', 'problems', and 'reasons' repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'disbalance of the environment' (imbalance) and 'vulnerable aspect to worry about'. While the meaning is clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the repetitive nature of the word choices limit the score. Incorporating more topic-specific terminology related to environmental science would significantly enhance the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'aspects which is raising', 'pollution... lead to', 'deforestation... are raising'). These errors are noticeable and occur in both simple and complex structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, they are often marred by these inaccuracies, which can occasionally cause the reader to pause. To improve, you must pay closer attention to singular/plural agreement and verb tense consistency. Proofreading your work for these basic errors is essential for achieving a higher score.
