Student answer (Band 5.0)

The significant environmental problem of the recent time is the loss of biodiversity as some human beings say. On the other hand, some say there are many other problems than this. Biodiversity means variety within specie and amnong species. as we know there are many extinct and endengered species of both plants and animals. Due to the lack of knowledege and many uprising problems cause this. For example deforestation is the main point to discuss. By cutting trees or by turning the agricultural areas into the industrial areas, many animals loss their habitats, from all this food chain disturbed. ont only this effect the environment there are many other problems like pollution is the main one. Its affect the many people cause the disease in it. the main reason of this is the increased in industries in cities areas, deforestation and the carbon dioxide level higher in the atmosphere. Global warming is the route cauese and is the one known envirmental hazard cause the skin cancers and higher temperature, climate is due to this. I not only perfer that loss of particular species of plants and animals is the problem there are also many other than this. both effects the atomsphere.

there are more important environmental problems link with this problem loss of particular species of plants and animals. For example industrial waste are directly dispposed into river and oceans. there increased in sulphur and carbondioxide which are harmful for fish and sea animals. that's why whales and salmon are endangered.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument, acknowledging the loss of biodiversity and other environmental issues like pollution and global warming. However, the development is limited. The ideas are presented in a somewhat disjointed manner, and the student's own opinion is not clearly articulated or sustained throughout the essay. The conclusion is weak and does not effectively summarize the position. While the prompt is addressed, the lack of depth in explaining why one might be considered more 'important' than the other prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and provides a more thorough explanation of the arguments presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. Paragraphing is inconsistent, with the second paragraph being very short and lacking a logical transition from the first. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused, such as 'ont only this effect the environment' and 'that's why whales and salmon are endangered.' The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the sentences do not flow logically from one to the next. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and often repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'specie' (species), 'amnong' (among), 'endengered' (endangered), 'knowledege' (knowledge), and 'cauese' (cause). Word choice is sometimes imprecise, such as 'uprising problems' instead of 'emerging problems' or 'route cauese' instead of 'root cause'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the frequency of errors limit the score. To improve, focus on learning collocations and practicing the correct spelling of common academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('many animals loss their habitats', 'pollution is the main one. Its affect the many people'), article usage, and sentence structure. Complex sentence structures are attempted but are often faulty, leading to run-on sentences or fragments. For example, 'Global warming is the route cauese and is the one known envirmental hazard cause the skin cancers and higher temperature, climate is due to this.' To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency and pluralization.
