Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is true that, some people say that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. Others say that there are more important environmental problems. Eventually there are many environmental problems but we cannot ignore the loss of particular species of plants and animals, human experiments on plamts and animals creating more environmental problem like loss of particular species of plants and animals.
To begin with, loss of particular species of plants and animals is a critical problem. Some scientist prefer to do experiments on animals rather than human to discover diseases, many people are against this because the loss of particular species of animals . Deforestation is also an issue to be notice because many plant species are already extinct and many plant species are soon to be extinct. People cutting plants for there own wants and satisfaction and there are already many sign of upcoming disaster caused by lack of plant species like-: lack of oxygen, Delhi is perfect example because people are facing so many difficulty's to breath. Major reason is pollution and there are no trees there as a source of oxygen.
Probing further, there are many other environmental problems to be noted to secure the future generation. Water pollution is must to be looked after by government because there is only two percent of drinking water available on earth. However, some people used to throw all the trash in a ocean and some water species also suffering because of too much garbage in there living area. Many scientist reported that there must be solution of water pollution as soon as possible otherwise drinking water will be over very soon.
In conclusion, there are many environmental problems but there must be a look on loss of particular species of plants and animals at first priority.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views regarding the importance of species loss versus other environmental issues and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding animal experimentation is not fully linked to the broader concept of species loss, and the discussion on water pollution is somewhat disconnected from the prompt's core comparison. While the position is clear, the supporting points lack depth and specific evidence, often relying on generalizations. To reach a higher band, you should expand on why species loss might be considered more or less critical than other issues like climate change or pollution with more nuanced reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a central theme. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For example, the transition 'Probing further' is a bit unnatural in this context. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the link between deforestation and the specific example of Delhi is abrupt. The flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother progression of ideas throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'issue to be notice' instead of 'issue to be noted' and 'difficulty's to breath' instead of 'difficulty breathing'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic terms like 'many' and 'problems' repeatedly. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and academic vocabulary related to environmental science, and ensure that word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some scientist prefer'), incorrect article usage (e.g., 'in a ocean'), and punctuation errors (e.g., the use of '-:'). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with pluralization, articles, and verb tenses, to ensure your complex sentences are constructed correctly.
