Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, many people are concerned about the loss of some species of plants and animals. But, others are worried about the important environmental problems. Moreover, in many countries different varieties of plants and animals are getting destroyed because of hunting and other secret experiment with the plants. This essay will discuss both views and validate my opinion.

To being with, many countries particular species of animal and plants are getting destroyed and cannot be created again. The people who thinks that the main problem that we are facing is the loss of some species. Many scientist uses many animal and plant that are facing extinction. Moreover, they uses these thinks for further experiment. For example, in America, many scientist are using many different animal and other plants to do further experiment and if they fails in doing that experiment they cannot bring the life back. That will be a major concern.

Furthermore, some people argue that there are other environmental problems that are more important than the loss of particular species. One major issue is climate change, which affects the entire planet by causing rising temperatures, extreme weather and melting ice caps. Another serious problem is air and water pollution, which can directly affect human health. For example, polluted air in large cities can cause breathing problems and other health issues. Therefore, these problems can have a more immediate impact on human beings than the loss of a particular plant or animal species.

In my opinion, although climate change and pollution are extremely serious environmental problems, the loss of plant and animal species should not be underestimated. Every species plays an important role in maintaining the balance of nature, and the extinction of one species can affect other organisms in the ecosystem. Therefore, governments and individuals should take action to protect endangered species while also dealing with other major environmental issues.

In conclusion, some people believe that the loss of particular species is a major environmental concern, whereas others consider problems such as climate change and pollution to be more important. Although other environmental problems can have a significant impact on human life, I believe that protecting plants and animals is equally important because they are essential for maintaining a healthy and balanced ecosystem.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views on environmental priorities and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, though the development in the first body paragraph is somewhat repetitive and lacks specific, concrete examples beyond vague mentions of 'secret experiments'. The second body paragraph is more effectively developed, providing clear examples like climate change and pollution. The position is consistent throughout the essay. To reach a higher band, ensure that arguments are supported with more precise, logical evidence rather than general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To being with', 'Furthermore', 'Therefore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and sentence-level flow, such as the awkward phrasing in the opening paragraph. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the essay maintains a coherent structure throughout.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'extinction', 'ecosystem', and 'climate change'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'secret experiment with the plants' and 'uses these thinks'. These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the precision of the argument. To improve, the student should focus on more natural collocations and avoid repetitive or vague terminology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('many scientist uses', 'people who thinks') and article usage. Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'To being with, many countries particular species...'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the accuracy of basic grammatical structures and refining complex sentence construction will help improve this score.
