Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument, but the development of ideas is limited. While you mention species loss and pollution, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, listing animals like 'jelly fish' and 'tiger' is a start, but you do not explain why their loss is a primary environmental concern compared to other issues. Your own opinion is not clearly stated or integrated into the argument; it is merely hinted at in the conclusion. To improve, ensure each paragraph provides a clear topic sentence followed by detailed explanation and a relevant example to support your position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical and sometimes confusing. You use basic cohesive devices like 'As well as' and 'Rather than that', but these are often used incorrectly, which disrupts the logical progression of your argument. The conclusion is abrupt and does not effectively summarise the main points or restate your opinion. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that transitions smoothly to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'problem', 'things', and 'loss', which restricts your ability to express complex ideas precisely. There are also several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'loss of environment' instead of 'environmental degradation' or 'environmental damage'. Some terms are used incorrectly, such as 'finishing' to describe species extinction. To reach a higher band, you should work on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to the environment and practice using synonyms to avoid repetition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Some people believes', 'others thinks') and article usage. Sentence structures are predominantly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors in punctuation or word order, such as 'In past era there are so many type of plants are grow'. You need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically verb tenses and pluralisation, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for basic errors like missing 's' on plurals would significantly improve your score.
