Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many countries, the main issue is environmental problem of our time is the loss of dead plants and animals. It is often argued that issue of dead plants and animals. While others believe that there are more important environmental problems. This essay will discuss both perspective before explaining why I believe that clean the environment and more important environmental problems.

On the one hand, many people believe that issue is dead plants and animals this is mainly because, the climate change and pollution it really affect the environment. The good environment will protect many diseases. If climate change many people suffer from many threats like flood, droughts etc. And the environmental issue has toxic industrial waste that ruin the whole community If one plant and animals dies, automatically the others also suffer. For instance, the environment will be not good many diseases will be developed and spread many illness like dengue etc.

On the other hand, other argues that there are more important environmental problem, they believe this because sometimes changing the environment will be most important because many diseases will be away and clean the environment and no health issues will be face. The deforestation is more important in the clean environment.

In my perspective, environment will be neat and clean, the government should protect the tress and plants and put more green plants in the country to protect the people health.

In conclusion, although both views have their own merits however I strongly believe that clean the environment and put more trees as it provides more advantages for individuals and society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument, but the development of ideas is limited and often repetitive. The student struggles to clearly articulate the distinction between the loss of species and other environmental problems. The arguments provided, such as 'the environment will be not good,' are vague and lack specific examples or logical depth. The position is stated, but it is not consistently supported throughout the essay. The essay relies on general statements rather than exploring the complexity of the prompt, which prevents it from reaching a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion,' they are often followed by sentences that lack logical flow. Referencing is frequently unclear, and the connection between sentences is often mechanical. For example, the transition between discussing species loss and general environmental health is abrupt. The paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs does not always support a clear, logical argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts the ability to convey complex ideas. Phrases like 'dead plants and animals' are used repeatedly rather than using more precise terminology such as 'biodiversity loss' or 'extinction of species.' There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'clean the environment' used as a noun phrase and 'no health issues will be face.' The range of vocabulary is just sufficient to communicate basic meaning, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are significant issues with sentence structure, such as 'In many countries, the main issue is environmental problem of our time is the loss of dead plants and animals,' which contains redundant subjects and missing articles. Subject-verb agreement and tense usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. Simple sentences are more frequent, but even these often contain errors in basic syntax and punctuation.
