Student answer (Band 5.0)

First of all ,we cant say that its not important, the loss of particular species of plants and animals is really important because that effects our world ,life ,we cant keep losing animals ,and when it comes to the animals that we use it in eating meat ,also some plants there will be no life anymore without it ,and thats because life depends on food ,water oxygen ,and if we lose one of it we will disappear from this world we cant live without food and u know that plants and animals are the reason of our foods . And also we need our animals coz some of it are a part of our world ,of our nature, the ones that make nature beautiful and gorgeous so we cant just let it die or disappear from life .

But ,at the same time we have also more other environment problems , like oxygen pollution, water pollution ,air pollution and land pollution.and as we know pollution isnt a normal or easy problem that we can ignore ,coz its also the reason of ending humans life ,like water pollution ,if we dont fight it ,it might pollute all the water and then theres nothing to drink ,land pollution makes our place ugly and hard to live in ,bad smells...etc, we have such a big problems that we have to fight it ,none of them is easy to ignore ,all of them are important we cant predict any of it wont harm our world .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument, discussing the loss of species and other environmental issues like pollution. However, the development is quite limited. The ideas are repetitive and lack specific examples or depth. For instance, the argument about species loss relies on general statements about food and beauty rather than scientific or ecological reasoning. Furthermore, the student fails to clearly state their own opinion as required by the prompt, which is a significant omission. The response stays on topic but lacks the analytical depth required for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into two main paragraphs, which helps with organization. However, the flow of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is very basic and repetitive, relying heavily on 'and' and 'also'. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect arguments logically. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'none of them is easy to ignore', where the antecedent is not explicitly defined. The overall progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical, making the text feel like a list of points rather than a cohesive argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student frequently uses basic terms like 'important', 'good', 'bad', and 'things'. There is little attempt to use less common or academic vocabulary. Phrases like 'make nature beautiful and gorgeous' are informal and lack the precision expected in an academic essay. Collocations are often weak, such as 'ending humans life' instead of 'threatening human existence'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively, keeping the score in the lower range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the readability of the text. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some of it are'), punctuation (incorrect use of commas and spaces), and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on sentences joined by commas or 'and', lacking proper subordination. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the errors in basic grammar are persistent. While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of errors and the lack of structural variety are significant weaknesses.
