Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both views and provides an opinion, but the development is limited. The essay is under the 250-word minimum, which negatively impacts the depth of the argument. While the main points are identified, the supporting arguments are underdeveloped and lack specific examples. The conclusion is incomplete, which prevents a full summary of the position. To improve, you must expand on your ideas with more detailed explanations and ensure the essay meets the minimum word count requirement to allow for a more comprehensive discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'the very first section' and 'as per second view', but these are somewhat mechanical and unnatural. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the lack of a completed conclusion disrupts the overall flow. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects logically to the next, creating a smoother transition between your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'problem', 'rules', and 'things'. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'toxics smokes' instead of 'toxic fumes' and 'medical and genetic resources' which is used in a vague context. Spelling errors, such as 'dissapered' and 'privet', also occur. To improve, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and collocations. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you express your ideas with greater clarity and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('there is many other main reason', 'food chain is depend on it') and sentence structure. Punctuation is inconsistent, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and improper use of commas. While some complex structures are attempted, they are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms. Increasing the variety of error-free complex sentences will also help improve your score.
