Student answer (Band 6.0)

Environmental problem is a big worry today. Some people think Lossing plants and animals is our biggest problem. Other believe things like pollution and climate change are more important. in my opinion, all these problems are linked, and we must look at them together.

On one hand, losing wildlife is dangerous. Every animal and plants have a special job in nature. If one disappears, the whole system can break down completely. For example, if we lose bees, they cannot help plants grow. This means humans will have less food to eat. So, saving animals keeps nature safe and balanced.

On the other hand, people say other problems are worse. Global warming causes bad weather, big floods, and rising sea levels. Also, pollution hurts, our fresh air and water. This makes many people sick every day. Many believe we need to stop plastic pollutions first because it directly hurts us right now.

I believe these problems are all parts of the same big issue. For example, pollutions and warm weather are the exact things killing animals and plants. If we stop pollution and clean up the earth, we will automatically save wildlife too. We cannot fix one problem without fixing the other.

In conclusion, both sides are right. saving animals is very important but stopping pollution and climate change matters just as much. We need to work on all these problems at the same time to save our planet. we cannot clear up the air, land and oceans they live in.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the loss of species and other environmental concerns like pollution and climate change. You clearly state your position that these issues are interconnected. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the role of bees in the ecosystem and the impact of global warming. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more deeply extended; for instance, you could elaborate on how specific policy changes or international cooperation could address these interconnected problems, rather than just stating they are linked.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and you use basic cohesive devices such as 'On one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'For example' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences can sometimes feel a bit mechanical. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'they' or 'this') is always precise to avoid ambiguity, particularly in the final paragraph where the reference to 'they' is slightly unclear.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'ecosystem,' 'global warming,' and 'balanced.' However, the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and lacks the sophistication required for higher bands. There are also minor errors in word choice and form, such as 'Lossing' (loss) and 'pollutions' (pollution). To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoid repeating simple words like 'big' or 'bad.' Expanding your range of synonyms will help you express your ideas with more nuance and precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent errors in punctuation and grammar, such as 'Other believe' (Others believe), 'hurts, our fresh air' (unnecessary comma), and 'saving animals' (should be capitalized at the start of a sentence). Additionally, some sentences are slightly fragmented. To achieve a higher score, focus on improving your control over complex sentence structures and ensure consistent attention to subject-verb agreement and punctuation rules throughout your writing.
