Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 192 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to address both sides of the argument and provide an opinion, the points are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The discussion on pollution is vague, and the connection between biodiversity loss and other environmental issues is not clearly articulated. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a full exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is often unclear. While you use some cohesive devices like 'on one hand' and 'on the other hand', their usage is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate. The transition between sentences is frequently abrupt, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning. For instance, the paragraph regarding pollution lacks a clear topic sentence and cohesive links to the previous paragraph. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus will significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'volum pollution' (likely meaning air or noise pollution) and 'series environments problems'. You rely on basic vocabulary, and there is little evidence of an attempt to use less common or more precise lexical items. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to the environment and practice using synonyms to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'every animals and plans are important' and 'the loss of plants and animals are create'. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty or incomplete. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and incorrect capitalization. You need to focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that sentences are complete thoughts.
