Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding species loss and climate change are somewhat superficial and lack specific, well-explained examples. For instance, the mention of 'higher IQ of pollution' is unclear and does not effectively support the argument. The position is stated, but the reasoning remains underdeveloped, preventing a higher score. To improve, you should focus on providing more detailed explanations and concrete evidence for each viewpoint discussed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Proponents of the first view point contain that' and 'To elaborate it'. There are also issues with referencing and logical flow between sentences. Some transitions feel forced, and the connection between ideas is occasionally weak, making the progression of the argument feel disjointed at times. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help create a smoother flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of incorrect word choice or awkward collocations, such as 'another factories of behind this issue' and 'higher IQ of pollution'. The repetition of basic terms like 'problem' and 'action' limits the range. To achieve a higher band, you should work on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct context. Expanding your range of synonyms and collocations will significantly enhance the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('many studies shows'), incorrect verb tenses ('will also started to extinct'), and awkward sentence structures. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas and missing full stops. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, these are often marred by errors that can occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like tense consistency and article usage would be a beneficial next step.
