Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is considered by some people that extension of particular species of plant and animal cause main effect to environment , while other argue that it's not a main issue . However i believe that, there are certain more complicated problem which effect environment very badly rather then loss of plants and animals . This eassy intends to discuss both views along with my views in forthcoming paragraphs .

People who advocate that if a particular kind of plants and animal extent it effect very badly to environment they think this leads to effect environment by unbalancing the living of animals and reducing the medicine made from certain specific plants. To elucidate, there is a proper living cycle of animal if we disbalance it they may start extenting and it can lead to reduce their population which effect very adversely to environment , beside this different plants are use to product various kind of medicine which help human to stay live if that plant species start extenting it can leads to reduction of production of medicine . For instance, as per a recently conducted survey by national sample survey organisation a significate proportion of plants and animal extent over a period of 20 years .

Conversely , opponents have their conflicting views ,,they assert that loss of particular species of animal and plants are not an main concern even the other factors like pollution also play an important role in environmental problems . To explicate, different type of pollution such as noise pollution , air pollution, water pollution also adversely effect environment , like air pollution reduce the amount of oxygen from air which create heath problems. For instant, as per a recent article publish by 'Times of India newspaper a huge proportion of people suffer from heart or breathing problems.

To conclude, although opinions are divide either loss of particular species and animals is important environment problem or not . I believe that it only play a role to a certain extent.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, fulfilling the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation regarding the loss of species and the impact of pollution is repetitive and lacks depth. The term 'extenting' is used incorrectly throughout the essay, which hinders the clarity of the arguments. While the position is clear, the supporting points are not fully extended or supported with sophisticated reasoning, leading to a somewhat simplistic treatment of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To elucidate' and 'To explicate' are used in a formulaic way that does not always fit the context. There are also issues with punctuation, such as the double commas in 'views ,,they', which disrupt the flow. The progression of ideas is present but feels somewhat disjointed due to the repetitive nature of the sentences and the lack of varied linking words.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate. The student repeatedly uses the word 'extenting' (likely intending 'extinction'), which is a significant error that impedes communication. Other word choices, such as 'main effect to environment' or 'stay live', are unnatural and demonstrate a lack of control over collocation. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'pollution' and 'species', the overall range is narrow, and the frequent misuse of basic terms prevents a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, article usage, and word forms (e.g., 'it effect very badly' instead of 'it affects the environment very badly'). Punctuation is also problematic, with missing spaces after commas and incorrect sentence boundaries. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of grammatical errors requires the reader to work harder to interpret the intended message.
