Student answer (Band 5.0)

Environmental problems have become a major concern in many countries. Is often argued that the main environmental issue of our time is loss of particular species of plants and animals and some believe there are more essential environmental problems. So, i will discuss the both views and give my own opinion.

On the one hand the biggest environmental problem is the extinction of plants and animals species because every species have vital role in the environment.Human activities like deforesting, hunting the animals and pollution can destroy the environment and can be the reason of disappearing of species. For example,if one type animal disappera another animal or plants can also be affected.

On the other hand ,there are other environmental problems that may affect both human and species like pollution, floods etc.Global tempeture can increase and can cause serious problem in environment. For example, due to deforestation Nepal is facing serious flood right now due to this many peoples have being suffered.

Conclusion,in my opnion the environmrntal problems aare more impotant because it can caused both humn other species and caused serios problem in environment.Although the los os species is a serious problem, climate change is more important. Therefore ,governments and individuals shuld take stronger action to reduce pollution and greenhouse gas and emissions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, but the development of ideas is limited due to the significant under-length (205 words). The arguments regarding biodiversity loss and climate change are introduced but lack the depth and supporting detail required for a higher band. The conclusion is somewhat repetitive and fails to fully synthesize the arguments presented. Because the response is well below the 250-word minimum, it fails to fully develop the task requirements, resulting in a lower score for task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited (e.g., 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand'). There are instances where the flow between sentences is abrupt, and the lack of word count prevents the development of more complex logical progression. While the paragraphing is present, the overall coherence is hindered by the brevity and the somewhat simplistic transition between the two main viewpoints.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision expected at higher levels. There are several spelling errors (e.g., 'disappera', 'tempeture', 'environmrntal', 'opnion', 'impotant', 'humn', 'serios') and some awkward phrasing ('disappearing of species'). The student relies on basic terminology and struggles to incorporate more sophisticated or topic-specific vocabulary effectively. To improve, the student should focus on accurate spelling and expanding their range of academic collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('every species have'), missing articles ('if one type animal'), and awkward verb tenses ('many peoples have being suffered'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limits the score.
