Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both sides of the argument, the discussion is superficial and lacks depth. The position is stated but not consistently supported throughout the text. The ideas regarding biodiversity loss and climate change are mentioned but remain under-developed, lacking specific examples or logical expansion. To improve, you must ensure you write at least 250 words to allow for a full exploration of the prompt's requirements, ensuring each paragraph provides clear, well-supported arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the abrupt transition 'Moreover glaciers is also the cause of' which is left incomplete. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of the argument. To improve, focus on using transition words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that links back to the main prompt. The structure needs to be more cohesive to guide the reader through your arguments effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'impurification of air' instead of 'air pollution' and 'small wind of sparrows' which is unclear. Basic vocabulary is used repeatedly, and the lack of precision hinders the clarity of your points. To improve, work on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to the environment and practice using these words in context. Avoid translating directly from your native language, as this often leads to unnatural phrasing and incorrect word usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'other thinks', 'glaciers is'), incorrect verb tenses, and sentence fragments. The range of sentence structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in basic syntax. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and proper article usage. Proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb forms will help increase your accuracy. Aim to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures once you have established a stronger foundation in basic grammar.
