Student answer (Band 5.0)
In the modern world environmental problems are biggest issue which have sparked serious debate . In my opinion I would like to say that main environmental problems nowadays is loss of species of plants and animals . Whenever environmental issues start plants and animals get effected for example If we see air pollution coming from vehicles affect plants they cannot grow properly in pollutant environment also If acid rain come it make worse for plants and animals Firstly, it destroyed plants soil and then by drinking that water animals become sick . There are also other problems that people think are important like factory wastage make people sick most important water pollution whenever water store somewhere it cause dengue due to this disease many people die also major problem is melting of glaciers as we can see whenever glaciers melt it become dangerous . Glaciers come to soil in form of flood which not only cause death also affect health issues and a lot of insects like Cobra and disease like Malerie come which sick people For example in 2025 flood come in Pakistan which cause death of people and almost 1,000 people health were at risk similarly IN Nepal 2026 flood come around 1,200 people died , 147 missing and remaining get sick animals also died . Nowadays most focusing thing is loss of plants and innocent animals this pollution caused by humans . In conclusion I would like to say we should focus on main environment factor and do precautions to save animals and plants because they are major issue .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument, but the development is inconsistent. While you state your opinion clearly, the supporting arguments are often repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the discussion on 'factory wastage' and 'melting glaciers' is introduced but not effectively linked back to the prompt's core debate regarding the loss of species versus other environmental issues. The examples provided, such as the floods in Pakistan and Nepal, are relevant but lack sufficient analysis to connect them logically to the broader environmental discourse. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a distinct viewpoint and provides a more structured explanation of why one issue might be considered more critical than another.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. It is written as a single, dense paragraph, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. There is a lack of effective cohesive devices; transitions between sentences are often abrupt or missing, such as the sudden shift from discussing air pollution to factory waste. While you attempt to use linking words like 'for example' and 'in conclusion', the overall flow is mechanical and disjointed. To achieve a higher band, you must use paragraphing to separate your introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, and employ a wider range of cohesive devices to link your ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and often repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'problems', 'plants', and 'animals'. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'pollutant environment' (polluted environment) and 'most focusing thing' (the main focus). Some terms are used incorrectly, such as 'Malerie' (malaria) and 'Cobra' (which is a specific species, not a general term for insects). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and synonyms to avoid repetition. Focus on learning the correct collocations for environmental topics, such as 'biodiversity loss' or 'industrial waste'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'factory wastage make people sick' (makes) and 'flood come' (came). Punctuation is also problematic, with many run-on sentences and missing commas, which makes the text difficult to parse. The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and pluralization. Practice using complex sentences with subordinating conjunctions (e.g., 'although', 'because', 'which') to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
