Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is an undeniable fact that biodiversity loss directly threatens the global ecosystem. Owing to this, it is claimed by some that major problem that we are facing is the extinction of special kind of rare plants and animals whereas the other argued that there are some other issues related to our environment that require our immediate attention. Personally, I completely agree with the latter notion because climatic change and pollution needs more attention.
To begin with, proponents of the first notion claim that species of plants and animals are becoming extinct over the passage of time. So, this issue needs urgent action by preserving these species. For instance, it is observed that the population of bees is decreased during our recent past that can have a drastic impact on our agriculture as bees are the source of pollination. The government need to take strict action by making rules and regulations and safety measures.
Conversely, the supporters of the former view argue that other environmental problems such as climatic change, droughts, global warming and many others are more significant than the first one. A report was recently was recently published that world is experiencing a period of chaos because of deforestation; to fulfil the needs of human beings. To tackle this, there is a need of strict rule of law at an international level.
In my view, these problems are deeply interconnected with each other that cannot be separated. Furthermore, preserving the natural ecosystem will automatically controls the climatic changes and preserve the endangered species of plants and animals. The government needs to control deforestation and promotes planting new trees in society.
To sum up, species becoming extinct and climatic changes are equally significant issues faces by today world. But preserving the ecosystem to tackle global warming or others is much more sustainable approach for future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of bees for pollination and the impact of deforestation. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding climate change is mentioned but not deeply explored with specific, extended examples. The conclusion attempts to reconcile the two views, which is a positive approach, but the overall depth of analysis remains at a mid-level. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more detailed explanations and specific, real-world evidence for each point raised.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Conversely', and 'To sum up', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the connection between the government's role and the specific environmental issues could be more tightly integrated. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the progression of ideas is generally clear, though the link between the final paragraph and the preceding arguments could be more explicit.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'biodiversity loss', 'extinction', 'pollination', and 'sustainable approach'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'the population of bees is decreased' (should be 'has decreased') and 'promotes planting' (should be 'promote planting'). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the control is not always precise. To improve, focus on using collocations more naturally and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'major problem that we are facing is' (missing article), 'the other argued' (should be 'others argue'), and 'A report was recently was recently published' (repetition and passive voice error). Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'climatic change and pollution needs' (should be 'need'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage.
