Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While both views are mentioned, the discussion is superficial and lacks the depth required for an Academic Task 2 essay. The student fails to provide a clear personal opinion, which is a specific requirement of the prompt. The arguments regarding deforestation and pollution are repetitive and lack sufficient supporting evidence or logical extension. Due to the under-length and the lack of a clear position, the response does not fully address all parts of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is disjointed. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as the frequent use of 'day by day' and 'as a result'. There is a lack of logical progression between sentences, and the transition between the two views is abrupt. Referencing is often unclear, and the overall structure feels underdeveloped, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument's development throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts the ability to convey complex ideas. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'soil can not growth any vegetable' and 'factory put harmul waste things'. The student relies on basic, often inaccurate terminology, such as 'Number of persons' instead of 'Many people' or 'in sky' instead of 'in the atmosphere'. The lack of variety and the persistent errors in word formation and usage significantly hinder the clarity of the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('percentage of oxygen are decarese'), article usage, and sentence structure. The essay relies almost exclusively on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex constructions are consistently faulty. Punctuation is also problematic, with irregular spacing and misuse of commas. The high frequency of basic errors in almost every sentence indicates a lack of control over fundamental grammatical rules.
